Now it is becoming apparent what will happen to the former savings bank building in Ebersberg, which was bought by the district in 2016.
The house made the headlines several times.
Ebersberg
– The former savings bank building, which is owned by the district, will be demolished.
A part of the centrally located and therefore expensive 15,000 square meter site is being sold to an investor.
He should build apartments there – also cheap ones.
With the proceeds from the sale, the district could finance an additional administration building for the district office, which urgently needs office space, on the remaining property.
At least that's what the plan looks like, which was drawn up by an intergroup working group and is being submitted to the district council for examination.
The district committee has already given the green light.
District bought the property for around twelve million euros
The district had bought the property in 2016 for around twelve million from the savings bank.
But then the estimated project costs for the new use exploded because of the fire protection, they climbed from 3.3 to over eleven million euros, then to 20 million euros.
One variant was even estimated at around 97.5 million euros.
District administrator Robert Niedergesäß (CSU) and his district had to take ridicule and suddenly found themselves in the black book of the taxpayers' association, where the most blatant cases of tax money wasting are listed.
New rooms for the district office could be created
Now it looks like this: Ideally, the additional rooms required for the district office will be financed by selling part of the area.
That depends on how close an investor is allowed to build on the part of the site to be sold, i.e. how high the possible profit from the sale could be for the district.
Five floors plus a roof are under discussion – also in relation to the surroundings.
The city of Ebersberg has planning authority
However, the city of Ebersberg has the planning authority.
"We are in good contact," says District Administrator Niedergesäß.
In the room is a competition of the city for the re-planning of the entire environment.
There could be results in the next few years, says the mayor of the district town and district councilor Ulrich Proske (independent).
He could also imagine further use of parts of the building.
“The investigation will show that.” However, there will be joint planning by the city and district.

"We also see the needs of the district," says Proske.
Because the district is facing a whole series of expensive projects.
A cost-effective solution for the expansion of the district office would be just right.
But it's still a plan.
