After the increase in the scale of fees: pet owners have had to dig deeper into their pockets at the vet since November 22nd.
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen
– Since November 22, pet owners have had to dig deeper into their pockets to keep their pets healthy.
After more than 20 years, the scale of fees for veterinarians – GOT for short – has been revised.
It specifies the sums that a veterinarian must charge for a specific service.

"The first draft dates back to 1999. That's when it was extensively changed for the first time," says Dr.
Paul Münsterer, Vice-President of the Bavarian State Chamber of Veterinarians and Chairman of the Veterinary District Association of Upper Bavaria.
"In 2012, a committee was set up especially for this purpose." There were many reasons for the revision.
"Technology hasn't stood still either.
And new devices cost money.”
Expensive practice equipment
According to the website of a medical technology manufacturer, costs of between 30,000 and 120,000 euros net can be incurred for a small animal and large animal practice, depending on the equipment.
A mobile X-ray machine for a small animal is available here from 5,000 euros, for an anesthetic monitor that monitors the patient's vital signs during an operation, sums from 30,000 euros are given.
"And then there are the costs for the employees," Münsterer points out.
He speaks from his own experience: from 1989 onwards he ran his own practice for farm animals and small animals in Benediktbeuern for over 35 years.

However, the draft drawn up ten years ago was not implemented.
So a re-entry was made.
Now the new GOT is through.
A simple examination of a dog or cat now costs EUR 23.62 (simple rate), a follow-up examination in the same treatment case costs EUR 19.74, and intravenous combination anesthesia for operations costs EUR 31.47 (simple rate).
"It can be assumed that many pet owners are now considering the way to the vet carefully," believes Münsterer.
He recommends considering pet health insurance.
You are not forced to conclude a contract for the entire all-round protection package.
"You can grade it." Nevertheless, in the future one or the other will perhaps ask themselves whether they can afford an animal.
Veterinarians are bound by the GOT
The veterinarians themselves are bound to the new GOT when billing.
Münsterer: "In the spirit of the animal, the competition should not be based on price, but on performance."
