After the statement of the designated Minister of Housing and Construction, Rabbi Yitzhak Goldknopf, that "I did not know the housing crisis until today", experts in the field expressed their concern.

Attorney Zvi Shov, an expert in real estate, planning and construction, says that the statement that there is no crisis in the housing market is puzzling, and even worrisome when it comes from someone who is supposed to be trusted in the field.

According to him, "the prices that soared, along with the great demand and the lack of construction starts, led to a difficult result.

Those who sold an apartment and did not purchase a replacement in recent years are like those who got off the train that continued to travel without it.

The apartment prices that have taken off are due to the lack of vacant lots available for construction and delays in planning and infrastructure, all of which indicate a crisis for which land must be released in available complexes.

"Issuing tenders of a price for a settler and the like may have answered part of the need in a specific population, but at the same time they created a great lack of lots that are currently available for marketing. Action must be taken to prepare additional land, which also includes planning actions that take a long time."

He again adds: "Beyond the general crisis in the market, the ultra-Orthodox population has also been hurt when in this sector there is a lack of apartments in significant volumes that are increasing year by year."
