The two Mittenwalders Fabian Roessler and Peter Reindl are publishing their third book on the G7 summit in 2022. Even Vitali Klitschko sent a greeting.

Earthquakes, plane crashes and train accidents shaped this year's summit meeting.

Krün/Mittenwald – The bear made it, simply sneaked past the fences into the security area.

Although the Elmauer valley was already one of the safest spots on the planet that May day, the hairy fellow was now calmly lapping up the remains of a barbecue on the wing of a truck.

Two Dutch truck drivers spent the night just a few meters away.

They supplied components for the briefing center.

Due to the tight schedule and because they could no longer find accommodation, the two were forced to spend the night in their vehicle on the heliport - where two months later the most powerful heads of state and government in the world landed, among others.

To feed themselves, the two Dutchmen grilled - which pleased Master Petz, who loudly attacked the leftovers on their truck that night.

"Mei, they were so scared," says Fabian Roessler today.

He found out about this story the very next day, but kept it to himself.

Now he is working on all his experiences in the new and meanwhile third book about the G7 summit 2022.

Everything that happened to him before, during and after the mammoth event.

Together with Peter Reindl, the duo was again present almost everywhere - even if the rail replacement service occasionally caused unpunctuality.

"G7 meeting probably one of the most important of all times"

For Roessler, the summit seemed calmer this time compared to 2015, but that is deceptive: "So much happened around it that shaped the G7 summit in 2022," he says.

The train accident in Partenkirchen in advance.

A magnitude 2.0 earthquake just below the Elmauer valley on Corpus Christi.

The plane crash at the Schlosshotel a few days before the summit.

The Ukraine war that broke out on Nonsensical Thursday almost jeopardized the meeting of the most powerful.

"That's why the meeting was probably one of the most important of all times."

But for him and Reindl, it's the little side stories that make their book so special.

When they filled up with their tiny Toyota Yaris and the police next to them filled up their gigantic, blue water cannon at the Klaiser petrol station.

The helicopter flight with press representatives and Bundeswehr soldiers from the media center on Garmisch's local mountain to the venue because demonstrators were blocking the streets.

Exclusive greeting from Vitali Klitschko for Buch

Roessler is particularly proud of Vitali Klitschko's greeting – exclusively for his little book.

Mittenwalder met the mayor of Kyiv at a lecture in Munich on the eve of the Munich Security Conference - a week before Russian troops marched into Ukraine on February 24.

In the G7 book he speaks of the destruction of the Ukrainian state and the genocide of the population.

"Together, with a strategic initiative, we must once and for all take away from Putin the opportunity to intimidate and destabilize Ukraine, Europe and the world."

Klitschko has no doubt "that the participants at the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau understood that."

Klitschko has not yet seen the book.

But it should arrive today or tomorrow: "It's been on the way to him for months," says Roessler.

But there are delivery problems because of the war quarrels.

"But he has already received the PDF." Will the next German G7 summit take place in Elmau again?

Roessler already has a premonition: "The website www.G7-2029.de is already reserved," he says with a wink.

BOOK PUBLICATION

The first edition of the book "G7 2022 Elmau" (1000 copies) is available online at www.g7-bayern.de, in Mittenwalder Schuhhaus Weineisen or directly from Fabian Roessler at www.g7-2022.de.
