Today, the German police announced the implementation of a major security operation in 11 provinces, and the dismantling of a cell belonging to the “Reich Citizens” movement that was planning to launch an attack on Parliament, according to its description.
Der Spiegel newspaper quoted security sources as saying: “The special police operate simultaneously in 11 out of 16 German federal states, and by order of the Public Prosecution Office, 25 men and women who were either members of the movement or supported it were arrested.”
The sources indicated that during the operation, more than 130 homes, offices and buildings were searched, noting, according to their expression, that “the detainees were planning to overthrow the federal government and kidnap the Minister of Health, and it was also expected that some of the security men would cooperate with them.”
The Reich Citizens movement advocates an ideology that denies the current constitution of Germany and believes that the Second Reich still exists on the basis of the 1871 constitution.
