Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko confirmed that all attempts to exclude Russia from the G20 are doomed to failure.
Commenting on the draft of the new defense budget for the United States, Groshko told reporters during the annual international forum “Primakov Readings” today: We see that the West is currently aiming to isolate Russia, and it may fail, just as attempts to exclude Russia from various international organizations and meetings have failed.
Groshko added: We saw these attempts on the eve of the Bali summit in Indonesia, and these attempts failed and are not supported by most countries in the world, pointing out that Russia deals very seriously with everything the United States does, but these attempts involve failure.
The draft of the new US defense budget, which was approved by the committees of both houses of Congress, and was published yesterday, includes a clause stipulating that Washington will work to expel Russia from a number of international organizations, including the Group of Twenty.
In another context, Groshko expressed Moscow's concern about the accumulation of Russian oil tankers near the Bosphorus Strait off the Turkish coast.
Groshko said: Russia is concerned about the situation, as the issue is now being discussed through transport and insurance companies, pointing out that if the problem is not resolved, of course it will be raised to the political level.
The British Financial Times, quoting oil traders, brokers and ship tracking services, reported a traffic jam for oil tankers off the coast of Turkey after the restrictions on Russian oil prices came into effect.
