Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, received today Geir Pedersen, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria, and his accompanying delegation, where the two sides reviewed the latest developments related to the situation in Syria and the region.
Special Envoy Pedersen presented the results of his tours and meetings during the last period, and the efforts he is making within the framework of the mandate entrusted to him.
In turn, Minister Mekdad explained the main challenges facing Syria, represented in particular by the negative effects left by terrorism and unilateral coercive measures on the Syrian economy and the lives of Syrians, as well as the continued illegal American and Turkish presence on Syrian territory in flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty and international law.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ayman Soussan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Jamal Naguib, Director of the Minister's Office, and Ihab Hamed from the Minister's Office.
