The branches of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and the Family Planning Association in Daraa governorate organized two activities on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The volunteers of the Red Crescent branch, according to the head of the branch, Dr. Ahmed Al-Masalmeh, within the mini-social care center in the town of Khirbet Ghazaleh, provided recreational activities for children, as well as kinetic and interactive games, as well as an awareness session to introduce children's rights and duties.
Al-Masalmeh pointed out in a statement to SANA reporter that the Red Crescent branch celebrates annually with children on International Children's Day, and for people with disabilities, with the aim of supporting children and giving them an opportunity to express themselves, and at the same time informing them of their rights.
The head of the Family Planning Association branch, Nujud Khalil, stated that the Women's Support and Empowerment Center (the safe space) organized, in cooperation with the (Ahl al-Sham) initiative, and the Red Crescent team, an event for mothers of children with disabilities on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which falls on the third of December of each year. Activities included introducing children's mothers, through the legal advisor, Reem Salman, to the rights of children with disabilities in Syrian law.
Khalil pointed out the need to develop the capabilities of persons with disabilities, by providing care, support and an appropriate environment to highlight their capabilities and talents, to be active members in society.
Volunteers of the (Ahl al-Sham) initiative gave a presentation on services targeting all segments of society, including children and persons with disabilities.
