A terrible act shook Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

The suspect of the killed 14-year-old is silent after the knife attack, the motive is still unclear.

Illerkirchberg – After the fatal attack on the way to school on two girls in Illerkirchberg near Ulm, the alleged suspect remains silent on the allegations.

The man relied on his right to refuse to testify, said a spokesman for the Ulm public prosecutor's office.

So far, the authorities have never noticed him committing violent crimes.

The 27-year-old from Eritrea was only caught once as a dodger and otherwise not known to the police.

An arrest warrant was issued for him yesterday.

On Monday, the man attacked two girls on their way to school in the border area between Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria and seriously injured them, probably with a knife.

One of the victims, 14-year-old Ece S., later died at the hospital.

An autopsy on the body will provide clues as to the exact cause of death.

The other 13-year-old victim is being treated medically.

But the girl's psychological situation is difficult, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office.

In the meantime, it had learned that its girlfriend had been killed.

The 13-year-old was injured so badly that there is also suspicion of attempted murder in her case.

The suspect was hospitalized and underwent hours of surgery for serious self-inflicted injuries.

There is still no information on the motive.

There is currently no evidence of any mental impairment.

The man is in the correctional hospital.

After the crime, the man fled to a refugee shelter, which he is said to have come from before the attack.

There were two other men from Eritrea who the officials took to the office.

The two men are now free again.

The act could have a political dimension because an asylum seeker is considered a suspect here.

"We will fully clarify this terrible act," announced the Baden-Württemberg Minister of the Interior and Deputy Prime Minister Thomas Strobl.

The CDU politician wanted to visit the crime scene around noon together with the Turkish ambassador Ahmet Basar Sen.

Ece S. had German citizenship and a Turkish migration background.

Her family belongs to the Alevi faith, which is related to Islam.

600 people said goodbye to the 14-year-old on Tuesday in the Alevi prayer and community center in Ulm.

"We are appalled and just stunned and just can't find the words to express our grief," community leader Yalcin Khan said.
