Rinat Karacha, Advisor to the Director General of the Russian Atomic Energy Agency, Rosatom, confirmed that the transfer of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant to the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency is impossible in principle.
“The transfer of the plant to the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency means, in fact, its transfer to the control of Ukraine, and it appears to us naturally how the station will be subject to the control of the International Atomic Energy Agency. This issue is not regulated by the Charter of the International Atomic Energy Agency or any other international legal documents.” This is impossible in principle today.
Karacha added: He invented this story and eventually spread it in the information field .. It is simply impossible.
He stressed that there are no legal regulations that allow the implementation of this process, pointing out that the IAEA does not have powers to manage nuclear power stations.
And the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed earlier that it is not possible to talk about handing over the Zaporozhye nuclear plant to any third party, or to remove Russian control over it because it is on land that has become Russian.
