In the fight against the shortage of skilled workers, SAP also wants to accept applicants without university exams in the future.

"Developers in particular have often learned their skills without being able to show a university degree," said Sabine Bendiek, head of HR at the software house, in an interview with the magazine "Capital" published on Wednesday.

Therefore, recruitment criteria would be revised.

However, details have not yet been determined.

According to a study by the digital association Bitkom, of which Bendiek is Vice President, there is currently a shortage of 137,000 IT specialists in Germany.

The shortage extends across all sectors.

"That's why we see a consistently high demand for people with digital skills, despite the difficult economic circumstances," added the SAP manager.

Her company is also continuing to hire, but “with great discipline”.
