The suspended female police officer was suspected of stealing a hat worth more than HK$5,600 in the TWIST store in Tsim Sha Tsui. She was charged with theft and was brought to the Kowloon City Court today (7th).
She denied the charges, and the defense said it needed to summon a psychiatrist and a psychologist to describe her mental state, and hired a foreign senior counsel to defend.
Since the defense has not been able to confirm the number of witnesses to the court, the magistrate adjourned the case to January 4 next year for a pre-trial review, and the defendant was allowed to continue to be released on bail.
Defendant Liu Jieer (49 years old) is accused of stealing a black hat worth HK$5,670 from the TWIST store on the UG floor of the International Plaza, No. 63 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, on May 21, 2022, and the above items are the property of TWIST .

After the defendant pleaded not guilty, the prosecution said it expected to call three witnesses and rely on about 50 minutes of CCTV footage.
The defense pointed out that the defendant intends to find a psychologist and one or two psychiatrists to testify, but one of the doctors has not yet been contacted, so they hope that the case will be scheduled for trial in three months.
The magistrate immediately asked: "Is it possible to explain the previous (psychiatrist)? Do you know how difficult it is for three doctors to "period"?" If the defense fails to prepare the report and other materials, and the court has set the trial period , the approach was not ideal, so it was decided to make a pre-trial review first.
The defense also agreed and promised to confirm the number of defense witnesses in the next arraignment.
