How are thermal baths reacting to the energy crisis?

The energy crisis does not affect the hotel industry or private households, but also thermal baths - it makes operation much more expensive and many recreational pools have therefore already temporarily closed some sections.

According to the online portal

GEO

, the German Spa Association is demanding rapid state aid, since spas are of enormous importance for tourism, business and medical care in rural areas.

"In the event of a gas shortage, the thermal baths are threatened with closure because they are categorized as unprotected establishments," says Thomas Jahn from the Bavarian Health Baths Association in a statement.

The Therme Erding is even better than other baths.

It is fed from the 63 degree Ardeo spring at a depth of over 2,000 meters.

“We save quite a bit on heating costs.

In addition, we need relatively little fresh water, which we would have to bring to 34 degrees," explained Markus Maier to our newspaper.

There are no plans to lower the water and sauna temperatures or to close saunas, as he announced at the end of September.

The Obermain Therme also informs on its website that all saunas are open.
