The police are investigating whether the foreign worker also harmed other elderly people she cared for • According to the suspicion, the elderly woman was imprisoned while the caregiver went out to do other work

A 37-year-old foreign worker from Uzbekistan was arrested on suspicion of abusing an 83-year-old woman, whom she imprisoned in a warehouse: this worker's detention was extended by five more days.

The police are now investigating whether she also harmed other elderly people she cared for in the past.

As mentioned, the police received a complaint over the weekend about suspected abuse and assault of a helpless elderly woman by her caregiver, after the elderly woman was found locked up in a warehouse in a residential building with signs of violence on her body.

Police officers who arrived at the scene, located her nanny and arrested him.

According to the suspicion, the suspect used to house the elderly woman, who suffers from dementia and is limited in her movement, in a small warehouse while she was closed and facing a wall while she went to other jobs.

It was also claimed that she had hit her several days earlier, however in her investigation she said the elderly suspect fell and was injured while sitting in a wheelchair several days earlier.

Today (Wednesday) she was brought to another detention extension, where the police asked to extend her detention for additional days.

On the other hand, attorney Galit Rahmani, who represents her on behalf of the public defender's office, claimed that her client admits that she took the woman and put her in a room and at the time she cleaned it. As for the bruises on her face, she says that she went for a walk with her and she fell. A medical document presented says that it is not possible to confirm or deny that the damage is the result of a fall.

"Her goal was not to hit her or bruise her, on the contrary, she took her out a few meters to work and make a few more shekels. To say it was a mistake - yes. To say it was fine - no. To keep her arrested because of that - no," said the lawyer. compassionate.

Judge Amsalem, who accepted the police's request, stated in her decision that there is a reasonable suspicion of committing the crimes attributed to the suspect.

"All the evidence is essential and important for the investigation of the suspicions. When it comes to a helpless elderly woman, who cannot stand up for herself and defend herself, the court must allow an investigation by others that can and will lead to the full disclosure of the suspicion," the judge wrote in her decision, adding: "The mere stay of The elderly under the conditions, as detailed in the investigation file, present a very worrying picture of themselves and justify the continuation of the investigation. What's more, at this stage, there is also a suspicion of an assault on the elderly."
