When it comes to the district budget for the coming year, there is astonishment at some of the requests from teachers.

Erding

– The preliminary deliberations on the district budget for 2023 are entering the home straight.

On Monday, the Committee for Education and Culture dealt with the chapters responsible for it.

The district councils went through the figures critically and were surprised at some of the schools' requests for funds.

Previously, the administration had reduced the teachers' wish list and deleted or postponed a number of positions.

The principals didn't notice any of this.

They had left the meeting after the presentation of the school report.

A total of 17.4 million euros are to flow into construction projects, maintenance and equipment of the district schools in the coming year.

More than 1,300 euros are incurred per student at the secondary institutions.

A further 1.6 million euros flow into art and culture.

With almost 920,000 euros, the lion's share goes to the district music school.

60,000 euros are earmarked for the culture fund to support projects by artists and associations.

Stephan Treffler (ÖDP) wanted to know why the vocational school needed 45,000 euros for its gastro center instead of the last 32,000 euros.

District Treasurer Markus Sicheneder justified this primarily with the general rise in prices.

Treffler also inquired about a CNC machine that is to be purchased for the vocational school in 2024 for 1.45 million euros.

"I would like to know exactly what it is needed for." District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer (CSU) replied that it was not yet certain whether it would really come in 2024, because at the moment there was no space for the device, which was more than ten meters wide carpentry workshop.

Florian Geiger (Greens) also needed clarification.

He wanted to know why all the schools had asked for 25,000 euros for a management server.

This is a generally necessary purchase, explained Sicheneder.

Geiger was also puzzled as to why the Anne Frank High School needed “a second piano due to lack of space”.

"I have a new home that I'm happy to make available on permanent loan," he said.

This post should now be questioned again.

Geiger was persuaded by the purchase of a €12,000 outdoor fitness machine for the vocational school.

Bayerstorfer explained that there are almost no outdoor sports facilities at this school and that they want to take part in the "good healthy school" program.

The request of the staff council of the Realschule Taufkirchen, which not only wants two grills for 360 euros, but also five beer table sets, caused irritation.

The justification according to Sichenender: Until now, these utensils should have been borrowed for events.

It has not yet been finally decided whether they will be bought.
