Explosive ordnance disposal experts defused two World War II bombs in Oranienburg on Wednesday afternoon.
The restricted area will be lifted again at 3:45 p.m., said a city spokeswoman.
A team of nine defusers were deployed to render the duds harmless.
Around 2,800 people had to leave their homes within a restricted area in the morning.
Oranienburg - The bombs, each weighing 250 kilograms, were eight and ten meters deep.
A dud was in the water.
The preparatory work was complex and, according to the city, already cost more than three million euros.
The city of Oranienburg north of Berlin is particularly burdened with old ordnance due to heavy bombing in the Second World War.
There was a strong armaments industry there.
