In the last months before her death, Queen Elizabeth II is said to have tried desperately to mediate between her son Charles and Prince Harry.

But their efforts were in vain.

London – Prince Harry (38) has always been considered the favorite grandson of Queen Elizabeth II († 96), despite numerous antics of the prince in his youth, the connection with his grandmother was very close.

Even when Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle (41) turned their backs on Great Britain and the British royal family in 2020, contact did not break off.

But even the Queen could not ensure peace between Prince Harry and his father Charles.

After moving to the US: did Harry and Meghan have financial problems?

"We have a very special relationship," Prince Harry gushed about his connection with the Queen in an interview with NBC's "Today" show in April. "We talk about things she can't talk to anyone else about." apparently a sensitive topic also played a major role in their conversations: dear money.

This was preceded by the explosive interview that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave to US talk legend Oprah Winfrey (68) in March 2021.

At the time, Harry had complained that his family had cut off his money supply.

After the death of Prince Philip († 99) a few months later, Queen Elizabeth II transferred many tasks - including financial ones - to her son, today's King Charles III.

(74).

But when it comes to money, Harry is said to have fallen on deaf ears with Charles.

Meghan and Harry on Oprah - The Interview

On March 7, 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with talk star Oprah Winfrey was broadcast in the United States.

In it, Harry and Meghan commented in detail on their withdrawal from the British royal family and their move to California for the first time.

In the conversation, the couple accused the royals of racist tendencies and denounced the lack of support for Meghan Markle.

The interview attracted a lot of media attention worldwide.

'I'm not a bank': Charles blocked phone calls from Prince Harry

After the Queen had to take it easy for health reasons, Prince Harry is said to have "bombarded" her with calls, according to the British tabloid The Sun.

"The Queen was always happy to talk to Harry, but when he asked for money she said, 'Why don't you talk to your father?'

Harry told her that Charles would no longer take his calls.”

Queen Elizabeth II then tried desperately to bring Harry and Charles closer to each other again.

When the Queen asked her son Charles why he was no longer responding to Harry's calls, he simply replied, "Because I'm not a bank."

Charles is said to have insisted that Prince Harry email him through his personal assistant instead should send.

Before her death on September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II was unable to reconcile Harry and Charles.

Fear of Prince Harry's memoirs: Royal family broke off contact

But not only today's king, Charles III, refused to call his son after Prince Harry's break with the royal family, Prince William (40) also largely broke off contact with his brother.

The reason for this was the announcement of Prince Harry's memoirs.

"Members of the family, including William, stopped speaking to Harry when they found out about his book deal over fears what they said might end up in print," The Sun quoted an insider as saying.

Even more than before Prince Harry's memoir "Spare", which will be released on January 10, 2023, the British royal family is currently trembling before the Netflix documentary about Harry and Meghan, which "will be worse than the royals can imagine".

From December 8th, the first three episodes of the six-part documentary "Harry & Meghan" should be available from the streaming provider.

It is doubtful whether the documentary will bring Prince Harry and Papa Charles closer together again.
