The municipality of Feldkirchen is not working on new plans for the old waterworks for the time being.

She wants to wait out the legal dispute over the demolition of the ruins.

Feldkirchen – Against three votes from the UWV parliamentary group, the municipal council decided not to undertake any further planning or work on the former waterworks.

There has been a legal dispute over the demolition for years, the result of which the majority of the municipal council wants to wait for.

So the ruin will remain for the time being.

In 1962, the first drilling for the "new" waterworks on Finkenstraße was carried out, and shortly thereafter the waterworks were built on the 1088 square meter site.

However, this was only in operation for a short time, because in 1995 the municipality joined the Zornedinger Water Supply Group, today the Munich East Wastewater Association.

Out of service for 25 years

The waterworks has therefore been out of service for over 25 years, and for almost ten years the municipality has been trying to have the house demolished because it is in a residential area.

However, the company commissioned by the administration did not exercise the necessary care when disposing of the building materials, some of which were contaminated with asbestos.

The Munich Trade Inspectorate announced a blocking.

An independent expert was appointed to assess the situation on site.

At the same time, the ruins became an Eldorado for young people to play adventure games.

Because the community could not come to an agreement with the company commissioned, there were several court cases, and one case is currently pending at the Munich Administrative Court.

A quality date was announced for January 2021, now the head of the building department, Dagmar Leiter, had to inform the local councils that it would take at least a year before a judgment was reached, three years were more likely.

"We have long been advised not to carry out any further work on the property in order to secure possible evidence.

But the question arises as to how we will continue,” said Leiter.

"We can't satisfy individual requests"

There is a successor solution for the property: as is well known, the boys' and girls' clubs would like their own clubhouse.

But of course the demolition would have to take place before you can plan further.

The municipality's lawyer informed that the municipality can and may advertise the demolition of the waterworks again.

According to the way the evidence has been taken so far, it cannot be assumed that an expert will inspect the property again, so you are thwarting any evidence yourself.

"The municipal council should therefore decide whether we should make a new demolition tender," said head of the building department.

Martin Obergrossberger (CSU) first wants to know what is planned there.

"The property is polluted, it is on the edge of a residential area, in my opinion we can take our time with a decision." Christian Wilhelm (SPD) agrees: "There is no need for action here.

I also think the location is unsuitable for the boys' and girls' clubs, it's far too close to residential buildings.” Silvia Pahl-Leclerque (Greens) sees the wishes of the boys and girls as no reason for community activity.

"We can't satisfy any individual requests." Herbert Vanvolsem (CSU) also wants to wait for the court decision first, "before that we shouldn't do anything".

The municipal council decided by a vote of 15:3.
