(ANSA) - PERUGIA, DECEMBER 08 - Andrey Yakunin, a 47-year-old of Russian origin but with a British passport, was declared innocent and released by the district court of Nord-Troms and Senja, Norway. to have flown a drone in the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard where - according to his version - he was leading an arctic naturalistic expedition by boat and used drones for the safety of travellers.
ANSA learned it from his defense.
Among other things, Yakunin leads the board of directors of Antognolla, a complex with a luxury resort and residence on the hills of Perugia.
According to the Norwegian judges - again according to what ANSA learned - he has not committed any crime.
The district court has in fact affirmed that piloting a drone for a hobby is not part of the offenses introduced by the sanctions against Russia.
"We are pleased, but unsurprisingly, that the district court has concluded that Andrey Yakunin has not committed any criminal offenses in Norway," said his defense attorneys John Christian Elden and Bernt Heiberg.
