The Syrian Family Planning Association Youth Center, in cooperation with the Legal Support Department of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent branch in Al-Hasakah Governorate, organized an awareness event about the reality of rural women in the governorate, as part of the activities of the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence.
And the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, Rashid Al-Sahou, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that during the event, the valuable contribution made by rural women in the field of agricultural development, the significant contributions to agricultural production, the availability of food security and the management of land and food resources, as well as their contribution to capacity-building for agricultural development, were highlighted. Adapting to the climate, in addition to presenting aspects of the difficult conditions experienced by women and girls in rural areas, such as difficulties in living and education.
Al-Saho pointed out that the event discussed the obstacles facing rural women and the need to empower their role in society and achieve gender equality, in addition to a legal discussion presented by lawyers, during which they touched on issues related to violence against women, the mechanism for applying the law in the event of a form of violence, and the role of the law in protecting women.
