His business is booming, people come from all over to pick up his fresh oranges from Sicily: That's exactly why the Olchinger Orange King now has to look for a new warehouse.

It's just getting too cramped in the commercial area.

Olching – His kingdom has become too small for the Olchinger Orange King.

Because business with the tropical fruit delivered directly from Sicily is booming, more and more customers are coming and the parking situation is getting worse, Mario Interrante is desperately looking for a new location.

Fixed size

For twelve years, the 57-year-old has been a fixture in the Olching industrial park with his shop on Johann-G.-Gutenbergstrasse.

Open three times a week.

Then the customers coming from all over the district and Munich, who have to order their vitamin-rich weekly or monthly ration in advance, are already queuing up with their cars.

And due to a lack of parking spaces, this is often on the street, which is why on some days a tin caravan obstructs traffic on the thoroughfare, which is heavily frequented even without the Orange King.

If you were looking for an alternative, Interrante would actually have found what you were looking for, even in the immediate vicinity, almost on the other side of the street.

There, a cul-de-sac leads to the Stanglhof of direct marketer Peter Groß.

The Orange King, who was born in Sicily, grew up in Cologne and then came to Munich, agreed with him.

A location on the farm seemed found.

bad news

But when it came to the approval phase, the bad news came from the town hall.

On the one hand, because the path also leads to the large recycling center and there is already a lot of traffic there during opening hours, which is why access and exits have been reorganized.

Much more serious, however, is that according to the land use plan, the Stanglhof belongs to the outdoor area, only agricultural operations are permitted there and no trade is possible, as a city hall spokeswoman explained when asked by the daily newspaper.

However, the authority is in contact with Interrante and has already offered alternative locations.

However, so far without success.

Which is why the Orange King has now taken the initiative himself and is now also looking for a location in Olching's neighboring towns.

Interrante even promises a "high reward" if a retail space of up to 1,200 square meters is successfully brokered.

However, the requirement is “at least 20 parking spaces”.
