For several weeks, municipal police officers have been escorting children morning and evening on the way to the Charles-Hermite nursery school, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, says a report from Le
Parisien
published on Wednesday December 7.
The reason ?
Avoid the bad encounters they could have, because many sellers and users of crack have invested in the neighborhood.
According to Kevin Havet, deputy security officer for the district, the presence of drug addicts increased after the dismantling of the Forceval camp at Porte de la Villette on October 5th.
"
This small path is a place under cover and difficult to access for the police, which is why despite the significant presence of police and CRS in the area, there remains a hard core of drug users
".
An escort that reassures parents
There would be 30 to 40 wandering on the Valentin Abeille alley, a municipal police officer told Le
Parisien
.
“
As soon as they see us arriving with the families, they disperse
”.
A mother, interviewed by BFMTV, depicts a difficult situation: “
It's complicated for children to see people in the street, without shoes, who sleep on the ground, who smoke their crack in front of them.
It is also complicated for the parents to find the words
”.
“
There can be sex acts in the middle of the street
,” she adds.
The parents told BFM that the device reassured them, and that the situation had improved over the past fortnight.
The latter will be reassessed during the Christmas holidays.
