In the ongoing dispute over secret documents from his tenure as US President, the pressure on Donald Trump could increase further.

According to media reports, at least two other secret documents were found during a search of a storage room used by Trump in West Palm Beach (Florida).

A team hired by Trump himself made the discovery, the Washington Post and the US broadcaster CNN reported on Wednesday, citing informants familiar with the matter.

The documents, which were not described in detail, were handed over to the federal police FBI.

The Washington Post quoted an anonymous insider familiar with what was happening: "In the storage room were suits and swords and wrestling trophies.

As far as I know, Trump was never in the storage room himself.

I guess nobody in Trump Tower knows exactly what was stored there.” Apparently, no list was kept of what is kept in the room.

Trump's team examined the storage room as part of a larger search of several Republican properties, it said.

According to the US media, these include Trump Tower in New York City and the ex-president's golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

According to the current status, no other sensitive documents have appeared there.

Trump had previously been asked to comment on whether he had given the FBI all documents classified as confidential, secret or top secret.

Legal trouble could loom

The background to this is the dispute over how government documents should be handled, which has been going on for months: On August 8, the FBI searched Trump's private property Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach (Florida) and confiscated documents marked "Secret" and "Top Secret" among other things. from his tenure.

Prior to that, the National Archives -- which is responsible for storing presidential records -- had been trying for months to get Trump's papers.

By storing the papers at home, the 76-year-old could have made himself legally vulnerable.

The investigation is also about the allegation of obstruction of justice.

The fact that documents have now been found at another location apart from Mar-a-Lago should raise new questions for the authorities.
