Yao Qingliang, Senior Director of Re-industrialization of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, said at the forum that when the development of advanced manufacturing centers was first approved, many people questioned why Hong Kong still built factories, but he emphasized that re-industrialization is not the same as before. However, he continued that the current industry is different. There are many high-tech industries with certain needs. For example, there are more than 200,000 square feet of factory buildings for advanced food manufacturing, and all the land has been leased out.
Yao Qingliang said that the labor-intensive industries in the past have left: "Some things go away when they go away." The current industry emphasizes "brain power".
