Solar cells could be built on the roof on the west side of the event forum, as a first rough representation of the municipal utility company shows.

They cannot be seen from the monastery courtyard.

The detailed planning has yet to be done.

Concerts, cabaret, shows: the Fürstenfeld event forum offers visitors a colorful programme.

But nothing works without electricity.

Fürstenfeldbruck – Sound, technology and light are essential – even in times of the energy crisis.

Therefore, electricity should be produced via a solar system.

The team around Fürstenfeld boss Norbert Leinweber has wanted to generate its own electricity on the large monastery area for a long time.

The manager now presented the plans for a PV system on the roof of the event forum to the culture committee.

Leinweber said that he had already spoken to the district home nurse Susanne Poller about the installation of such a system.

Because with the historic building you have to involve the preservation of monuments.

conservation

The preservation of monuments specifies design goals: PV systems should be "inconspicuous mounting modules", produce a uniform surface and be difficult to see into, explained Leinweber.

Accordingly, the PV panels should not be in the field of vision of visitors staying on the monastery grounds.

During an on-site visit with the district home nurse, it turned out that the solar system can only be installed on the west side.

The roof area faces the street "Am Engelsberg" and not, as on the east side, in the inner courtyard of the monastery area.

FFB newsletter.)

Leinweber said solar cells could be built on an area of around 1,000 square meters on the west side of the roof.

This means that a total of 100,000 kilowatt hours per year could be generated from renewable energies.

Leinweber calculated that this would cover part of the annual consumption of the event forum – a total of 500,000 kilowatt hours.

“It could become a showcase project – the historic roof on one side and the barrel roof on the other.”

Ten years

The Fürstenfeld manager has already spoken to the Brucker Stadtwerke.

They created a visualization.

Leasing the roof area to the municipal utility would be a possible option.

Overall, the project would have to be expected to cost around 150,000 euros.

Amortization would be achieved in around ten years – energetically in just two years.

The members of the culture committee were convinced and commissioned the in-house operation to continue the planning.

"Since the representatives of monument preservation have a positive attitude towards this, there is no reason to be against it," said Klaus Wollenberg (FDP).

With regard to the budget situation, the finance officer added that the funds for the PV system would probably not appear in the 2023 and 2024 budget.

Theresa Hannig (Greens) also praised the plans: "The dark panels on the roof don't bother either."
