Elisabeth Borne announced it on Wednesday: ten million French people, the most modest, will be able to receive aid of 100 euros to compensate for increases in fuel prices.

The device will replace from January the rebate of 10 cents at the pump, in effect until the end of the year.

In the 2023 budget, this new bonus represents an envelope of one billion euros, lower than the initial estimate of 1.5 billion euros.

Who is entitled to the fuel voucher?

In all, up to ten million French people, “

the most modest

”, will be able to benefit from this check for 100 euros.

The latter is aimed at workers, such as employees, civil servants or the self-employed.

The only condition: the reference tax income per unit must not exceed 14,700 euros in 2021. According to Bercy estimates, a single person must not have earned more than 1,314 euros net per month last year.

A couple with one child or a single woman with two children or a couple with two children will have the same monthly income ceiling of 3285 euros.

Finally, a couple with three children must have declared 5255 euros per month as reference tax income in 2021. Note that if two adults are taxable, the aid may be doubled to 200 euros for the

This aid concerns all thermal cars, whatever their fuel.

Hybrid, electric vehicles and two-wheelers are also eligible.

No mileage condition is required to receive the check.

According to Matignon, the amount of 100 euros "

represents a discount of around 10 cents per liter

" at the pump, "

based on the average journeys

" of the French, or 12,000 kilometers over a year.

Who will not be eligible?

The fuel allowance is intended only for people who work and thus excludes retirees, stay-at-home parents and the unemployed.

For job seekers, specific assistance is granted by Pôle Emploi to reimburse their travel related to their search for work.

How to benefit from the fuel voucher?

And how will this aid be paid?

To receive the check, you will have to register directly on the tax site, where a dedicated space will be put online "

from January 16

", according to the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire.

You will need to enter your tax number, your license plate and complete a sworn statement indicating that you are using your car to get to work.

Once the request has been validated, the 100 euros will be credited eight days later in one go directly to your bank account.

The Ministry of the Economy specifies that random checks will be carried out, without specifying the nature of the sanctions for offenders.

Can it be combined with other government aid?

This fuel check can be combined with other aid issued by the government.

Among the five bonuses in force, only the checks for wood heating and fuel oil cannot be combined.

Note that for the fuel check, out of 1.6 million eligible households, 200,000 have already been identified by the government and will receive their aid directly in their bank account.
