During the period in which he was acting as a Hamas emissary, Abu Thabat held several meetings with his operatives at the Beit Hanun crossing for the purpose of promoting terrorist activity and collecting intelligence information.
Among the tasks that Abu Thabat was asked to perform by his operatives in Hamas - revealing the identity of Shin Bet agents, gathering intelligence on sites in Israel.
He took advantage of his stay in Israel
The findings of the investigation taught that Abu Thabat took advantage of his stay in Israel, which was intended to give him the opportunity to work in Israel and provide for his family, for the benefit of transmitting intelligence information to his operatives in the Hamas security apparatus, and this with full awareness of the implications arising from this.
