With the aim of facilitating and securing the return of the people to their homes in the city of Al-Hajar Al-Aswad in the countryside of Damascus, the service workshops affiliated to a number of sectors carried out a number of works in the area, including connecting the electrical network and delivering current to homes after installing two electric conversion centers with a capacity of 1,000 kilovolt-amps for each, and extending low-current lines. While other projects continue to be implemented, according to the head of the local council in the city, Eng. Khaled Khamis.
Regarding educational services, Khamis explained that the teaching process began in the third school, Al-Hajar Al-Aswad, which was rehabilitated in cooperation with the International First Aid Organization, and during the coming days, the restoration of five other schools will begin in cooperation with an international organization, so that all students and students will be accommodated during the next academic year.
With regard to the rehabilitation of houses, Khamis affirmed that 136 houses have been rehabilitated and renovated by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Organization, and work is underway to restore 300 other houses by their owners, and the number of families who actually lived in the city exceeded 150 families.
Concerning the health situation, Khamis pointed out that the rehabilitation work of the health center in the city of Rif Dimashq governorate will be completed within days, and the Health Directorate in Quneitra governorate will rehabilitate its dispensary in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The Chairman of the Council stated that work is underway to complete the rehabilitation of sewage lines in the main streets in the Tishreen neighborhood in cooperation with the International First Aid Organization, while the International Red Cross Organization has completed the implementation of a project to maintain and replace the sewage line passing through the city of Al-Hajar Al-Aswad to the Al-Qadam area towards the Yarmouk pumping station, with a length of 1800 meters. meters, and part of the sewage line in Al-Thawra neighborhood in the city has been rehabilitated.
