The confectionery manufacturer Katjes is expanding its range - of all things by taking over a number of well-known toothpaste brands.
Katjes International GmbH & Co. KG has acquired the entire dental and oral care business of the Dax-listed consumer goods manufacturer Henkel: including all trademark rights, Katjes announced.
The range of products from Katjes will also include the dental care brands Theramed, Vademecum, Licor del Polo and Antica Erboristeria.
Katjes emphasized that the acquired brands achieved net sales of over 50 million euros in the past financial year and are profitable.
The company did not disclose the purchase price.
Background: Henkel is in the process of restructuring its consumer goods division.
The group is also parting with numerous brands.
Katjes International specializes in acquiring companies with established brands.
Most recently, the company bought the Italian panettone manufacturer Sperlari in August.
Baby care Bübchen already owned by Katjes
But Katjes has long ceased to limit its acquisitions to the confectionery sector.
Already in 2020, Katjes took over the child care manufacturer Bübchen, according to its own statements the German market leader for baby and child care.
"Following the successful Bübchen acquisition of Nestlé/Galderma in 2020, we are pleased to be able to acquire other strong brands in this area from a large and reliable partner like Henkel," said Tobias Bachmüller, Managing Partner of Katjes International.
The legally independent Katjes International GmbH & Co. KG is part of the Katjes Group together with its sister companies Katjes Fassin GmbH + Co. KG and Katjesgreenfood GmbH & Co. KG.
Katjes International alone achieved sales of 255 million euros last year.
