Russia saw that the US statements against it on religious freedoms poisoned the bilateral relations between the two countries, noting that Moscow's position on religious affairs is consistent and open.
TASS news agency quoted the Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Cooperation in Respecting Religious Freedoms, Ambassador for Special Missions Gennady Askaldovich, commenting on the statements of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, saying: “We consider the statement of the US Secretary of State another unofficial attack against Russia,” stressing that the US authorities and officials are promoting Stubbornly Russophobic Agenda.
Askaldovich added: “We support the protection of human rights, traditions and religions. As for the accusations against us, they are misplaced,” explaining that the United States deliberately destroys traditional values and therefore has no moral right to judge Russia or any other country.
Askaldovich pointed out that behind these accusations there is only one goal, which is to demonize everything related to Russia and to present its fighters as thugs.
