Just before the end of the year, the European Safety Organization publishes another round of crash tests indicating further strengthening of the safety of the Chinese models, while the Europeans find it difficult to achieve the maximum score, except for the luxury models that register a full rating and a higher score in points than the Chinese product.

According to Encap, 2022 was one of the organization's busiest years ever, with many new manufacturers tested for the first time and a variety of technologies submitted for examination, and safety is very important to the European customer and our crash scores are often a condition for the model's success in Europe.

In the last round, about 14 models were tested, some of which returned to validation after being previously tested.

The current test was approached by 3 Chinese cars that are making their way to Europe, with the Chery Omuda 5 (known in Israel as the Chery FX) and the MG 4 that will be launched here in the coming months receiving a full score of 5 stars.

Alongside them, we also tested the Maxus MIFA 9, a large electric minivan that is not marketed in Israel and also received the maximum score.

The Chinese have demonstrated huge progress in safety this year and out of ten models that took the European test 9 won 5 stars and only one was satisfied with 4 stars.

The new Lexus RX and Mercedes GLC (whose marketing is expected to begin in Israel in the coming weeks), along with the Volkswagen ID BUZZ, received a full score, while the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Skoda Octavia took a repeat test after being previously tested, and managed to maintain the maximum score despite raising the threshold of requirements.

Those who failed to maintain the previous full score are Ford Puma and Volkswagen Touran, which this time settled for four stars.

The pair of vans Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Amarok (which are non-identical twin brothers), along with the intriguing electric Lucid Air, also excelled with 5 stars.

The new Peugeot 408 that was officially launched in the world last week was a disappointment with 4 stars in the test and it also joins the DS9, Citroen C5X, the new Peugeot 308 and the DS4 which were satisfied with 4 star scores in crash tests conducted earlier this year, and are mainly due to a lack of safety equipment advanced or effectively his defense.

Overall, the organization notes positively the continuous improvement in the safety of the models and the fact that only 3 models out of 14 in the current round did not achieve the full score despite the tightening of the requirements.
