This is the first execution linked to the protests in Iran.

The country on Thursday morning executed a man accused of injuring a paramilitary man after he blocked traffic on an avenue in Tehran during the unrest, the official Irna news agency said.

"Mohsen Shekari, a rioter who blocked Sattar Khan Boulevard on September 25 and stabbed a Bassij in the left shoulder was executed Thursday morning in Tehran," the agency said.

In total, eleven people risk the same fate for their participation in the riots.

The judicial authority specifies that Mohsen Shekari was found guilty of having fought and having drawn "his weapon with the intention of killing, causing terror and disturbing the order and security of society".

“He intentionally stabbed a Basij while performing his duty and blocked Sattar Khan Street in Tehran,” the agency added.

"The Iranian authorities have executed a protester, sentenced to death in a sham trial without any legal procedure", alerted on Twiter, Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, head of the Oslo-based NGO, "Iran Human Rights ".

His execution "must provoke strong reactions at the international level, otherwise we will face daily death sentences for demonstrators", he warned.

The country has been rocked by a wave of anti-regime demonstrations since mid-September and the death in custody of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old student.

According to activists and her family, the young woman died after being beaten, but the authorities linked her death to health problems, denied by her parents.

The authorities, who denounce riots, regularly accuse the United States and its Western allies as well as Kurdish groups based abroad, of being the instigators of this unprecedented protest movement.
