Representatives of the crafts in Munich and the surrounding area complain about the bad situation for their industry in the city.

It's about parking, commercial space or training.

The CSU wants to take countermeasures with an application package.

Munich – Politics will probably not be able to solve problems either.

Because employees sometimes have to stop on footpaths or cycle paths when delivering the goods, drivers are often insulted, says master baker Heinrich Traublinger.

"Not a week goes by without complaints from a branch." And the Munich company has 21 of them. Traublinger would like the people of Munich to understand more about certain necessities.

More live and let live.

"But we won't be able to decide that today," says Traublinger.

The CSU and Free Voters alone cannot decide anything, but they can at least apply for help for the crafts.

The parliamentary group presented a large package of applications on Thursday.

Large package of applications to help trades and crafts in Munich - "We've had a lot of talks"

"We have dealt intensively with the situation of the craft and had many discussions," says parliamentary group leader Manuel Pretzl.

Because the craft belongs in the city, it cannot be that companies have to move out because there is a lack of commercial space.

Or others no longer offer their services in Munich due to a lack of parking spaces.

Therefore, the city councils also want to designate parking spaces for craftsmen well distributed in parking license areas.

In addition, the increase in the prices for the tradesman parking permit is to be withdrawn from 120 to 360 euros, and the municipal energy cost fund is to be increased to 40 million euros.

In addition, craft businesses are to be exempted from the planned diesel driving ban.

The city's mobile phone parking app is also to be upgraded to make it easier for craft businesses and suppliers to find free spaces.

Large package of applications to help the trades in Munich - customers cannot be reached

It has long since been impossible to reach customers, says Sophia Fronius, Managing Director of Fronius Haustechnik in Ismaning.

As a plumber, she relies heavily on her tools, not to mention materials.

And that's why two vehicles have to be deployed to some construction sites.

You've already had to turn down new customers because they didn't provide a parking space.

She doesn't have a parking permit, it's too expensive.

"I'll take the risk for a few times."

Speaking of risk: Anyone who doesn't take a parking ticket because they just want to go to the bakery quickly should get away with it in the future, the CSU and Free Voters are demanding.

For this purpose, a so-called roll button should be installed on all parking machines.

It allows free parking for 15 minutes.

The model is already available in Cologne, for example, but as a roll button.

Large package of applications to help crafts in Munich - CSU wants to identify more commercial space

So that the trades will continue to have golden ground in Munich in the future, the city councilors would also like to see small parceled areas for A-commercial areas that can be used by small and medium-sized trades businesses.

In addition, the city must finally implement the new designation of 35 hectares of commercial space, which was already decided in 2017/18.

Since then, only three hectares of new space have been created on the Junkers site.

Olaf Zimmermann, head of Heiz Obermeier, also noticed that there is not enough commercial space in Munich.

His business in Lehel had to go because residents had complained.

Too loud.

He finally found a new home in the Werksviertel, but the search was difficult.

The new rooms are smaller, the costs higher.

But at least well connected.

"We have six apprentices, who also look at the companies to see how easily they can be reached."

Large package of applications to help the trades in Munich: Trainees should network with companies

In order to network craftsmen and trainees better and in a contemporary way, the city is to create an online portal including an app at the request of the CSU and free voters.

The structure of a dating app (Tinder) is conceivable, in which the applicants can “match” a company using basic information and pictures and then a dialogue becomes possible.

In addition, affordable living space for trainees and apprentices should be included in the planning of all building projects in the city.

Furthermore, handicraft businesses and guilds should be able to advertise their training occupations in the Munich schools.

Pretzl imagines a campaign with lectures or project weeks.

"With every craft business that leaves the city, Munich loses a bit of its quality of life," says Pretzl.

If you have water damage or a power failure at home, you certainly don't want to wait

until a craftsman has arrived from the surrounding area.

“Long journeys are a burden on the environment and on customers' wallets.

We need craftsmen as neighbors in our neighborhoods.”
