silencing? Meta blocked the WhatsApp account of right-wing activist Baruch Marzel Israel today

2022-12-08T11:18:48.404Z

The right-wing activist does not know why the step was taken and is threatening to file a lawsuit against the company because this significantly harms his business activity.

The "Meta" company blocked the WhatsApp account of right-wing activist Baruch Marzel today (Thursday), and he cannot send and receive messages on the application.

This is an unusual and extreme step, which was done in the past only to a very limited number of prominent right-wing people, among them Benzi Gopstein.

It is not clear why Marzel's account was suspended, and what led to this precisely now.

The right-wing activist says that he intends to file a lawsuit against the company because this significantly harms his business activity.

According to him, this is silence on behalf of the left.

"This is business damage, because WhatsApp is more of a work tool than a tool for communicating opinions. When they stop me without warning, it's a serious injury. I intend to file a lawsuit against them. They caused me financial damage without warning. Anyone who wants to send me a message doesn't know that I don't receive it Marzel explained the nature of the injury.

"There is no special reason for the blocking as far as I know. Recently, I have been uploading Rabbi Kahana's Torah words to my statuses, and my status is also seen by people beyond my groups, perhaps even left-wing people."

"For over 50 years the left has been trying to shut us up but we continue and get stronger. When they torture us we will multiply and we will break out. We will increase our activity to save Israel from our enemies at home and abroad.

They will not be able to silence us," Marzel said.

About a year and a half ago, Facebook blocked the WhatsApp accounts of 15 prominent right-wing activists, among them the account of Benzi Gopstein and Ayala Ben Gabir.

All the accounts belong to activists of the Otzma Yehudit party, and some of them are active in the Lahava organization. So the Meta company responded that they suspend accounts that do not comply with their policy, in order to prevent harm in accordance with their policy or the local law.

There was no response from Meta until the news was published, and it will be published when received.
