A journey through music history - that's what Thomas Zigon and friends are offering on December 31 in Oberammergau at a New Year's Eve gala.

Then there's a party.

Oberammergau – The question comes as reliably as Santa Claus in December.

For many it pops up.

How do you spend the turn of the year - cozy with fondue with friends, in a romantic spot in togetherness or at a boozy party?

Thomas Zigon makes it easy for the undecided this year and provides an enticing answer: at the New Year's Eve gala in Oberammergau he takes them on a special journey through music history.

Since 2013, Zigon and his friends have been on stage at regular intervals in the Ammergauer Haus.

With the series “Musical Meets .

.

.” the 36-year-old and his colleagues from the industry have made a name for themselves.

In August 2019, they took the audience into the world of cartoons.

After that it was over.

Because of Corona and the passion that was first canceled and then taking place.

But this year Zigon wanted to attack again.

"It would be a shame if you let the year go by," says the man from Oberammergau, who lives in Augsburg.

Motto: fun, fun, fun

The musical actor has been messing around with the program for a long time.

“It has been more acute since September.” The father of a small daughter has been on parental leave for a few weeks.

A full-time job, so to speak.

"I thought to myself, I'll fill my calendar," he says and laughs.

But Zigon has experience in organizing, and he and his colleagues are professionals.

They arrive on December 26th.

The following days, "we're rehearsing really hard," announces the 36-year-old.

The cast knows the procedure.

With one exception, all of them are old hands who were already at “Musical Meets.

.

.” have contributed in the past.

Instead of ten actors, this time five show their skills.

However, half as many staff does not mean half as much quality.

Because Zigon and his team want to ignite musical fireworks.

The audience can adapt to different blocks.

Among other things, disco fever breaks out, greetings from Studio 54.

Classics from the Eurovision Song Contest and hits also create a good atmosphere.

Zigon's favourite: the best of the Bravo Hits.

A colorful mix for every generation.

Because the organizer has one wish: "It shouldn't be a stiff event." The unofficial motto is: fun, fun, fun.

That's why there are chairs, but it doesn't matter at all if the audience can't keep their seats.

Anyone can dance.

After all, it's all about celebrating the turn of the year appropriately.

Proceeds go to the local Christmas market association

A bit of bling bling and glitter should not be missing.

The actors slip into dazzling costumes.

"On New Year's Eve you have to show off," emphasizes Zigon.

He also expects the same from the guests in the cloakroom.

"You can make yourself chic."

Zigon doesn't pocket the proceeds of the evening himself.

As always, he donates the money to a charity.

This year he is supporting the Oberammergau Christmas Market Association for the first time.

He always helps the needy from the village and the Ammertal as well as institutions and organizations such as the Tafel.

"That," emphasizes the initiator of the event, "is a very good receiver." One more reason why Zigon is hoping for many visitors.

He schedules the gala, which starts at 9 p.m. because of the traditional star tour, as precisely as possible.

By 11:40 p.m., he's trying to wrap up the show.

The after-show party then continues into the morning hours in the foyer – with drinks from local Simon Marschalek and his Shake and Stir team.

So that everyone can toast to the New Year on time.

Tickets for the New Year's Eve show on December 31 are available in advance at the Tourist Information in Oberammergau.
