Regina Rüger has been running the ballet school at the Poing Family Center since she was 30 years old.

It's been 15 years now that the ballet teacher teaches with joy and enthusiasm.

Poing - Regina Rüger sits on the floor in the splits, her upper body bent forward, making notes on a piece of paper in front of her.

When she sees the reporter, she stands up with an ease that leaves the visitor amazed and green with envy.

The 45-year-old has been running the ballet school at the Poing family center for 15 years. Every Monday and Tuesday she teaches children, adolescents and young adults aged 4 to 20 in the multi-purpose room of the triple gym.

"In the 15 years I've only been absent for a week because of illness," she says and smiles.

She herself began ballet at the age of five, runs her own school in Munich and teaches twice a week for the family center in Poing.

"My dream job," she says.

Not a ballet dancer per se, she never wanted to be that, but: a ballet teacher.

In her words: "It is my dream job to teach children and show them my love for dance."

Poing: Finally dance performances again

Proof that she does this very well and passes on the love is the group of 20-year-old ballet dancers in Poing: "They have all been with me since they were five years old." With fun and joy in a sport that requires a high level of discipline and, says Rüger, increases self-confidence.

In particular through public appearances such as the Poinger Kulturtage or the street festival.

"It's good for life," says the ballet teacher, citing as an example that the fear of giving a presentation at school can be reduced.

Performances - after the long compulsory Corona break, these are possible again.

During the culture days, the ballet groups danced at their own matinee in the triple gymnasium, and the "big" group also danced at the operetta evening in the auditorium of the Anni Pickert School.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

"Finally there are performances again," says Regina Rüger happily and sighs.

In the Corona period, around half of the students have dropped out in the past two years.

"Especially the smaller children had lost interest." Lessons only online, no performances.

Nevertheless: "I did all the lessons online every week."

Poing: Trial lesson possible at any time

There are now around 60 children, adolescents and young adults in the family center's ballet school, and the director is hoping for more.

A trial lesson is possible at any time by prior arrangement.

Nobody has to meet certain requirements for ballet, says Regina Rüger.

"Dancing is good for all children." Not just girls: among the approximately 60 participants is a boy.

Information

The ballet training for the various groups takes place on Mondays from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesdays from 1.50 to 6 p.m.

Information is available from Regina Rüger, telephone (089) 4302830.
