The House of Representatives approved on Thursday the law that establishes federal protection for marriages of same-sex and interracial couples, which, after being previously validated by the Senate, now goes to the president, Joe Biden, to be enacted.
The approval by 258 votes in favor and 169 against leaves the rule on equal marriage on Biden's table, who defends the project and will sign it so that it becomes law.
The Senate validated it with 61 votes in favor and 36 against thanks to the support of some Republicans and the unanimous support of Democrats.
“Your love is your choice,” House Democratic Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said on Thursday's plenary session.
