Li Jiarun, director of train operations of the MTR, said that the accident occurred at around 8:30 am on Monday (5th) when a train entering Tseung Kwan O Station broke down and had to be stopped. Li Jiarun pointed out that in the future, he will continue to cooperate with suppliers in several aspects of investigation to understand the cause of the accident, including a comprehensive inspection of the cause of the operation, materials, maintenance, and environment.

He also emphasized that the supplier has confirmed that the same type of device is safe, and MTR will submit a detailed report to the government within two months and continue to communicate with government departments.

Lee Ka-run also pointed out that in the past, he has been maintaining according to the supplier's guidelines, so he will continue to investigate the cause of the accident with the supplier's representative who just came to Hong Kong from other places.

Li Jiarun pointed out that the cause of the accident was that the buffer of the hook between the sixth and seventh trucks at that time was loosened, and the cause still needs to be investigated.
