Vaujany: resort, ski pass, ski area, new addresses… Our guide to winter 2022/2023

2022-12-08T07:21:57.444Z

ALPES DU NORTH - Labeled Family Plus, this resort-village of L'Oisans which has made the family one of its priorities, embodies the resort "all generations", between traditional hamlet and great skiing.

The station

Less than an hour from the capital of the Alps - Grenoble -, Vaujany benefits from a privileged and "full sun" location (300 days a year) on the

southern slopes of the Rissiou

and facing the spectacular panorama of the Grandes Rousses massif and of the Fare waterfall.

Yet unknown to the general public, this intimate resort is one of the eight towns of L'Oisans attached to the vast ski area of L'Alpe d'Huez which extends over 8 hectares, or 250 kilometers of slopes for all levels.

One of the most important areas in the world, which climbs up to 3350 meters in altitude and has four legendary descents of around 2000 meters in altitude, as well as the most beautiful freeride routes in Oisans (only for expert levels).

Conversely, Vaujany knows how to slow down time.

And offer more relaxed skiing in the

Oz-en-Oisans area

, with around thirty runs criss-crossing the fir forests.

For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, two circuits departing from Oz offer exceptional landscapes: the

Boucle de Poutran

and the Circuit des Lacs.

While the first, which extends over 10 kilometers and is suitable for all levels, offers a splendid view of the Taillefer massif, the other is aimed at skating enthusiasts, with 20 kilometers and landscapes bringing together the Belledonne massifs , Grandes Rousses and the lake plateau.

For non-skiers, there emerges from the village a tranquility that is increasingly rare in a resort.

Vaujany seems to cultivate discretion and the heritage of an authentic Isère village, living from craftsmanship… and significant summer cycling tourism.

In winter, it has been able to win the hearts of more and more initiates to seek the good life of a resort on a human scale and plural, thanks to very beautiful sports infrastructures - in particular the Olympic ice rink which hosts competitions and galas. figure skating and the semi-Olympic swimming pool with kayaking initiation evenings — as well as various off-piste activities: culture (cinema-amphitheatre, media library, flight simulator), meetings (during all school holidays, discovery of a local profession around a visit),

What's new for winter 2022/2023

No major novelties this season for Vaujany, except for an enriched offer of activities accessible to all, free of charge.

Initiation to curling and eisstock, outdoor yoga session, parallel slalom, storytelling, ice disco at the ice rink, horse-drawn carriage ride... Every day of the week, an appointment.

And throughout the season, themed and guided snowshoe hikes using the free Cirkwi app.

Or the story of the mountains told at every step and following different routes.

Oz-Vaujany and Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine ski area: our favorite slopes

If the Oz-Vaujany domain (53 kilometers of slopes) is more than enough for skiers who do not want to do just that, access to Alpe D'huez Grand Domaine offers a good balance of levels with around a hundred slopes, including 42 green, 37 blue, 39 red and 18 black.

La Fare (Oz-Vaujany),

a red run that you take from the Alpette at 2100 meters, with immediately a series of bends and breaks in the slope until the arrival at L'Enversin d' Oz.

It is a very technical track that winds between steep rocks and fir trees and provides sensations over 3.5 kilometers.

La Sarenne (Alpe D'Huez Grand Domaine)

.

One of the legendary runs, the longest black run in Europe.

It is taken from the summit of the Pic Blanc at 3330 meters, it then winds between successions of walls and slope breaks on the glacier, and it ends 16 kilometers further, in the middle of the fir trees of Auris-en-Oisans and Boo.

Breathtaking view of the Ecrins massif and the Meje.

Family-friendly but well in step with its times, Vaujany is gently following the move towards the upscaling of winter sports resorts and is in turn encouraging the appearance of a few new charming addresses.

Hotel Les Cimes

This is the flagship inauguration of this season, a small hotel that has long been emblematic of the resort, entirely resuscitated by Madame Vacances, a specialist in club residences, and which signs here a boutique hotel with only 10 rooms, with very contemporary charm. and has an intimate table.

Hotel V

No ostentatious luxury but a chic address, with a sense of decoration and details that mark the difference.
