When some environmentalists secretly dream of establishing a "climatocracy"

FIGAROVOX/TRIBUNE - Interviewed by Léa Salamé, the engineer engaged in the fight against global warming, Jean-Marc Jancovici, said: "I am in favor of a communist system: rich or poor, you would be entitled to 3 to 4 flights per airplane in your whole life. The historian, Jean-Paul...

Just published “Greta resuscitated Einstein” (VA editions 2022).

For years now, the French have been fooled by ideologues who, under the guise of environmental protection, impose political fads (from the left?) on them.

This is how we are sold environmentalism - a political ideology - instead of scientific ecology.

After a long process, activists have knocked Promethean science off its pedestal so that it is now taboo to manipulate the genome, to split the atom, to broadcast waves or to synthesize molecules. .

Instead, pseudo-solutions called “made-in Nature” have appeared, which we are gradually realizing that they are the Trojan horse of degrowth.

L'

organic agriculture and renewable energies in the best case sign the end of the society of plenty and in the worst case announce serious shortages to come.

Under the battering of environmentalism, we have therefore decided to bury techno-solutionism and rare are the politicians who dare to evoke science and technology to solve environmental challenges.

And yet plant biotechnologies remain the best option for producing seeds that are resistant to water stress;

so-called smart agriculture is the most efficient way to manage inputs sparingly;

abundant and decarbonized nuclear energy contributes neither to the problem of global warming nor to that of shortages in the supply of

electricity… Unfortunately, all these subjects have moved light years away from the agenda of environmental policies under the influence of environmentalism.

This monopoly of an ideology concerning the discourse relating to Nature will have terrible political consequences as we will see.

Interviewed by Léa Salamé, Jean-Marc Jancovici affirmed: “

I am in favor of a communist system: rich or poor, you would be entitled to 3 to 4 plane flights in your whole life.

We realize to what extent politics and science are now mixed and how a form of neo-scientism has begun to rule our lives

.

By dint of leaving science policy to ideologues, we have witnessed a paradigm shift: more and more politicians have used science to make us believe that we could pass new laws in its name.

Not taking the trouble either to explain what modeling is, or to explain that perhaps there are other alternatives to decreasing sacrificial measures... While from a political point of view it seems logical to favor growth to optimize our ability to adapt to future climate change.

It is thus, for example, that some secretly dream of establishing a “Climatocracy”, or political regime which would derive its legitimacy from laws drawn directly from climate science;

as if we could deduce the laws that govern our lives from the modeling of climatologists.

And yet the mechanism of political recuperation is simple: it suffices to affirm the existence of a climate-catastrophist consensus which would only accept as true the most extreme scenarios, to moralize the debate on energy by demonizing fossil fuels , to favor excess (we never do enough for the climate), to skew the experience (we confuse weather and climate) or even to reduce our existential problems to climate change alone.

All these sophisms are then tricks which allow the ideologues to present the sacrificial solutions as being the only possible ones.

Politics, media, activist or technocrat, the climatocrat relies on the disaster scenarios of climate models as political levers, or as reasons to legislate too, he thinks that engineers and industrialists are less competent to find solutions that pass, according to him, more by restrictions, sacrifices, even decrease than by an effort in the field of R&D.

Also more and more, we see that the science of legislators is taking precedence over that of engineers: no more Mesmer plans and green revolutions à la Borlaug!

Long live the billions spent at a loss in the Green-deals and the F2Fs of European planning.

Prohibitions and renunciations are piling up to seal the fate of our liberal democracies a little more each day.

We end up with “Jancovici” who think they can deduce new laws directly from the most catastrophic scientific models.

Not taking the trouble, either to explain what modeling is, or to explain that perhaps there are other alternatives to decreasing sacrificial measures... whereas from a political point of view it seems logical to favor growth to optimize our ability to

adaptation to future climate change.

To stop letting the law be dictated by the Climatocrats, and in order to make the right choices, it is high time for the French to engage in science policy, but for that they need an alternative offer and an environmental policy. who defends positive solutions.

In a recent survey, the Descartes Foundation revealed that 72.2% of respondents deplored that information on climate change is treated by the mainstream media “

in a way that is not constructive enough and brings solutions

 ”.

There is nothing surprising in this since, as we have just shown, for the moment it is environmentalism that has the monopoly of discourse and that its stock in trade is based on the demonization of techno-solutionism and the instrumentalization of science to impose authoritarian regimes of the Climatocracy or Biodiversitocracy type which only promise sacrifice and decline.

How to address environmental problems differently and meet the expectations of the French?

Some understood that there was a real need on these subjects.

On the associative level, this is particularly the case of Bertrand Alliot, spokesperson for the Écologie Action association, which campaigns for a positive ecology free from ambient catastrophism.

The former LPO activist, converted to scientific ecology, fights against environmentalism and unmasks the hypocrisy of watermelon activists.

With his association he intends, for example, to change the catastrophic narrative of the sixth extinction by telling positive stories about biodiversity.

On the political level, an offer is being born at the center with Loïc Rousselle of the ecology party at the center who is betting on showing that ecology and the market are not incompatible.

On the right, Senator Bruno Retailleau published an essay entitled “

Will we still have light in winter?

in which he recalls that the right is the most legitimate to talk about ecology and wants to remove subsidies for renewable energies and increase the share of nuclear power to 70%.

However, the road still seems long, so the French in search of positive solutions on the environment are waiting with firm feet for this alternative political offer… But one thing is certain without them they have every chance of ending up in the jails of climatocrats.
