According to Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP), the blockade actions by climate protection activists at two German airports have nothing to do with legitimate protest.
"With their criminal machinations, the activists of the "last generation" are endangering the social consensus," Wissing said in a written statement on Thursday.
Berlin/Munich - "A democracy decides on the basis of majorities and cannot be blackmailed," emphasized the minister.
At the same time, the rule of law must “resolutely defend itself” against criminals.
Previously, demonstrators had tried to paralyze air traffic at the airports in Berlin and Munich.
In Munich, a runway was briefly closed.
At the capital's BER airport, activists had stuck themselves on the runway, which the federal police said did not affect flight operations.
