Climate activists from the group "Last Generation" recently invaded the premises of BER Airport.
Now they should be held financially accountable.
Berlin - Flight safety is a sensitive issue.
The protesters of the climate activists "Last Generation" could soon experience this in an unpleasant way on their own body - and in their wallets.
On November 24, six activists from the group, whose protest actions have been taxing the nerves of many citizens, police officers and politicians over the past few weeks, broke into the cordoned-off area of Berlin Airport BER.
The climate activists gained access using wire cutters they had brought with them - and then glued themselves to the asphalt where airplanes usually roll.

Task forces from the federal police and fire brigade finally detached the glued protesters from the apron of the airport before the women and men were taken into custody.
As
Der Spiegel
explains, 14 Lufthansa Group flights allegedly had to be canceled due to the climate protest.
The news magazine quotes an airport spokesman for BER:
"Berlin-Brandenburg Airport is seriously considering suing the so-called 'last generation' for damages." In addition, Lufthansa is also considering claims for damages due to "impairments to flight operations".
At the beginning of December, activists of the "Last Generation" also struck on the premises of Munich Airport:

19 other flights operated by the airlines Lufthansa, Eurowings, Swiss and Austrian were delayed or had to be diverted due to the protest action at BER Airport.
The Lufthansa Group is also planning to continue to assert claims for damages in the event of "protest actions of this kind".
For weeks, the climate activists of the "last generation" have kept authorities, private companies and parts of the public in suspense.
The protest group draws attention to the threatening effects of climate change and calls on decision-makers from business and politics to initiate the necessary measures.
