The Sat.1 "Frühstücksfernsehen" consists of a colorful group of moderators and news anchors.

After saying goodbye to Annika Lau, the next departure follows.

Max Oppel leaves the Sat.1 format.

Berlin – For most early risers, “breakfast television” is as much a part of the morning routine as the first, steaming cup of coffee or a slice of toast smeared with butter.

Between 5:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., the popular Sat.1 format presents everything from funny conversations, interviews and the latest news - so that the day starts off perfectly.

A cheerful team of moderators around Marlene Lufen (51) and Daniel Boschmann (42) as well as an all-knowing group of experts for topics such as astrology, film and technology have made the cult show a real television success story for 35 years.

"New Challenges": Max Oppel leaves Sat.1 "Breakfast TV"

Since the first edition of "Breakfast Television" scurried across the screens on October 1, 1987, the colorful troupe has undergone many changes.

It was only this spring that Annika Lau (43) said goodbye to her TV friends, with whom she had been in front of the camera despite various interruptions since 2006, shortly afterwards Amira Tröger (27) did the same.

But it doesn't stop with two tearful departures – because news anchor Max Oppel (48) is now packing his things and leaving the Sat.1 studio.

"An incredibly colorful week full of emotions," announced the "Frühstücksfernsehen" team with a joint snapshot on Instagram of Max Oppel's departure, "After almost five years, our dear news anchor is facing new challenges."

It will definitely be unusual for viewers , not to have the most important news from all over the world presented by the likeable suit wearer - after all, in his half decade at Sat.1 he has become an integral part of the television family.

"Can't be," one user reacts dismayed to the news, "You can't replace Max, he's just unique," does the same for her.

How do you become a moderator?

Working as a presenter for the major television stations is a real dream job for many.

However, getting there is not as easy as one might wish.

Of course, there is the possibility of jumping straight into the moderation chair as a career changer without special training - for example through a successful casting.

In most cases, however, the journey is a lot less straightforward and only leads from an initial internship, an apprenticeship and work as an editor to being in front of the camera after several stages.

“Partly great, partly crazy”: Max Oppel looks back on his “breakfast television” career

On his personal Instagram profile, Max Oppel - dressed up as always, of course - sends a happy message to his fans and proudly looks back on his Sat.1 career.

"It really was an incredible time," he says, visibly touched, "I don't think I've ever received so much encouragement, so much feedback in my entire career." Summarizing such an exciting experience in just a few words is difficult - an apt one He still finds the description: "Some great, some crazy, definitely a bit anarchic – and it was fun."

Even if the "breakfast television" is over - of course Max Oppel doesn't give up the microphone.

He can still be heard as a moderator on the radio show “Kompressor” by Deutschlandfunk Kultur, and who knows – maybe he will soon impress with his relaxed manner in front of the camera again.

There are also major changes in other channels, because after 30 years Vox is throwing out its speaker voice.
