Dawin Rafael Pena Abreu, 37, was sentenced this Friday evening to 18 years in prison and a permanent ban from French territory.
Originally from the Dominican Republic, he appeared since Wednesday before the Assize Court of Loire-Atlantique for "
murder having as its object the preparation of an offense or the impunity of its author and thefts
".
He was convicted of the murder of a retired Parisian lyric singing teacher of Italian origin in 2019 at Pouliguen.
As well as the theft of his phone, his credit card or even cash.
On July 24, 2019, the victim was found dead, strangled, near his bed, scantily dressed, in his second home in this commune of Loire-Atlantique.
Dawin Rafael Pena Abreu, meanwhile, was arrested the next day in Paris, in possession of a telephone, money and other valuables.

The two men had met on a dating site a few months before the events.
According to the CV of the accused, presented on the first day of the trial, and according to his statements, Dawin Rafael Pena Abreu, born in Santo Domingo and raised in a very religious family close to a sect, had arrived in France in 2011.
While in police custody, the accused gave different versions of the facts.
During the three-day hearing, he acknowledged the murder, in a calm tone, but affirmed that he had no intention of robbing his victim.
"It's a series of uncalculated things
," he defended himself on Wednesday morning.
This aggravating circumstance was not held against him.
