Train drivers announce new strikes at railway company SWEG

Because of the tariff dispute between the train drivers' union GDL and the Südwestdeutsches Landesverkehrs GmbH (SWEG), rail customers have to adjust to train cancellations and delays again and for an indefinite period of time.
The union announced another strike at short notice on Friday, without setting a date and time.
According to the companies on strike, SWEG and its subsidiary SWEG Bahn Stuttgart GmbH (SBS), the work is scheduled to start on Friday (April 14).

"At this point we would like to clearly show that the networks used by these two railway companies can no longer be used calculably and reliably by travelers in the next few weeks," said GDL Federal Chairman Claus Weselsky according to the announcement.
The SWEG warned that trains could also stop and fail during the journey.
The conflict is about the fact that the Union of German Locomotive Drivers (GDL), according to their own statements, would like to negotiate a collective agreement for the more than 500 railway workers not only for SBS, but for the entire SWEG group.
The group has a total of 1800 employees.
SWEG rejects this and does not want to take over the former Abellio Rail Baden-Württemberg - today SBS - permanently.
The Abellio daughter got into financial difficulties at the end of 2021.
The company then took over the state-owned SWEG for an initial period of two years.
