A 35-year-old man died this evening (Saturday) following a fire on Shenkin Street in Givatayim.

It is suspected that it was a deliberate arson.

MDA medics and paramedics pronounced him dead on the spot. A 60-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in a minor condition due to smoke inhalation. Senior MDA medic Lipa Hirsch said: "We were called for fear of a violent incident. When we arrived at the apartment we noticed fire and smoke from one of the rooms, we saw a woman About 60 years old fully conscious after inhaling smoke and in one of the rooms was an unconscious man without breathing and without a pulse, after medical tests we had to determine his death, the woman received treatment and we evacuated her to a hospital in a stable and light condition."

The circumstances of the case are being investigated.
