The employees are no longer interested in discussions.
Nuremberg – “Like every year, there is a mediation stop before Christmas!”, the Nuremberg animal shelter begins its latest Facebook post.
"From December 19th, 2022 to January 2nd, 2023, no animals will be placed with us." The reason: Animals are not Christmas gifts.
The days of Christmas and the turn of the year are simply too turbulent for a pet to settle down.
Animal shelter imposed mediation stop: “We are not Christmas presents”
To emphasize the point, the animal shelter posts a collage of pictures of a rabbit, cat, dog and budgies, with the caption "We are not Christmas presents!".
In this context, the animal rights activists also ask that they be spared the "annual tiresome discussion that Christmas has soo much time to get used to and otherwise no vacation all year round." That doesn't help the animal either.
"We ask for your understanding and wish you a nice pre-Christmas period." There is a lot of understanding for the campaign on Facebook.
Many praise the animal shelter for the mediation stop and even call for it on public holidays like Easter.
In a special case, animals are also placed during the Christmas period.

The exception at Christmas time is the "partner animal agency".
If a partner animal dies and the other animal is left alone, the owners can call the animal shelter.
"Then we'll find a solution!" Here, too, the animal rights activists warn directly: "Of course, it's checked whether the partner animal really exists".
Numerous dogs, cats, rabbits and budgerigars are currently waiting for a new home in the Nuremberg animal shelter.
There was a happy ending recently for bulldog Mexx, who finally found his people after more than two years in the animal shelter.
