After the victory: huge celebrations in Morocco on the occasion of advancing to the semi-finals of the World Cup (Walla system!)
After the sensational victory over Spain and qualifying for the quarter-finals - the Moroccan team did the unbelievable, beating the Portugal team led by Cristiano Ronaldo - and advanced to the semi-finals of the World Cup.
In Morocco, they started celebrating the sensation.
Thousands of fans old, young, women, men, children and babies came today (Saturday) to watch the fateful match between the Moroccan national team and the Portuguese national team on a giant screen in the main square of the port city of Essaouira.
Hope mixed with fear best describes the feeling that prevailed throughout the game.
The feeling faded towards the end of the first half, when Youssef Ann Nasiri scored the winning goal for the team.
Throughout the second half, it seemed that the Portuguese were in control of the game since they attacked non-stop - while the Moroccans defended.
The hearts in the square jumped quite a few times - in the hope that the team will do the unbelievable, and defeat Portugal as well.

At the final whistle, heralding Morocco's 1-0 victory over Portugal, the nail-biting was replaced by roars of immense joy.
Hafla songs emanated from the loudspeakers in the square, the flags were proudly raised, the children were lifted on their shoulders and the women began the famous empty cheers - while the people in the square did not stop singing morale songs.
A man in a wheelchair was lifted by the crowd with a look of euphoria in his eyes, and even some boys who couldn't stand the pressure and started fighting towards the end of the game - burst into hugs.
Apparently the joy of winning the World Cup outweighs any controversy.
