Israel Railways updated today (Saturday) that during the night hundreds of meters of communication cables were cut and stolen from the signaling system of Israel Railways in the Lehavim area.
This caused great damage and disabled the signaling and traffic management systems of the train in the southern region.
Following the theft, there is concern that train traffic between Beer Sheva and the north of the country will not resume on Saturday night, due to the extent of the damage and the necessary repair work.
The Israel Police and the security forces are on the scene and are investigating the theft.
The train crews, technicians and engineers are working to repair the damage caused.
