The construction of the new citizens' and town hall has so far been accident-free, on schedule and without further increases in costs.

Now the topping-out ceremony has been celebrated.

Münsing – The specialist planners and craftsmen, the architects Bernhard Peck and Armin Daam, the administration and the municipal councils, the residents and the mayors of the neighboring municipalities of Eurasburg and Berg invited the head of the town hall, Michael Grasl, to draft beer and roast pork on Wednesday afternoon – a total of over 100 guests.

Review: The road to the groundbreaking ceremony was sometimes rocky

The crowd stood in front of what later became the entrance to the community center on the Labbach street and looked towards the roof, where the two carpenters Thomas Schurz from the Münsinger company of the same name and his colleague Marcel Ahrens from the Kulmbach carpentry Fleischmann each read out a topping-out speech.

Both companies have taken on woodwork on the structure made of wood, steel and concrete.

While Ahrens raised his wine glass to the workers, the builders and the architects, Schurz, who is also a municipal councillor, looked back humorously on the sometimes rocky path to the groundbreaking ceremony.

Mineral resources from the Hallstatt period

Already in 2008, the municipality acquired the former Pallaufhof including the surrounding area.

The coup was mainly due to the former municipal councilors Peter Bromberger and Josef Leis.

However, before the southern part of the property could be built on with the two houses, mineral resources from the Hallstatt period had to be brought to safety.

Fortunately, nothing valuable was found under the town hall.

But here, too, the mayor and the majority of the municipal council encountered resistance.

As reported, the costs had exploded within four years from around 12 to 21.5 million euros because there was a long time between the first estimate and the first calculation and the ancillary construction costs were not included at the time.

In the meantime, due to the enormous increase in raw material prices, the figure has reached 22.5 million euros.

According to Peter Hacker, it should stay that way.

The former Krämmel employee has been advising the community on the community center since the taxpayers' association had examined the matter (without discovering a fault in the community) after a citizen had accused the company of wasting money here.

"Today everyone is firmly in place," says Schurz.

All 60 local clubs should be allowed to use the community center

Then, according to the old custom, the topping-out crown was raised by a crane.

In honor of the Franconian Peter Hacker and the craftsmen from Kulmbach, the brass band played the "Frankenlied March" under the direction of Elisabeth Hinterholzer.

The group consisted of musicians from the Holzhauser, the Münsinger and the Degerndorfer chapel - as a symbol that all 60 local clubs can and should use the community center in the future.

After the move to the community hall, Mayor Michael Grasl spoke a word of welcome.

He praised the "outstanding performance" of the previous craftsmen from the companies Krämmel (shell construction), Fleischmann, Schurz and Wendt (tinsmith).

After further awards in the areas of dry construction, media technology, solar system and fire alarm system, everything is now being done to get the building winterproof by Christmas.

Addressing the skeptics and critics, he said he maintained that local governments need to invest in their future.

Münsing has always been "looking ahead".

At the end of the 1970s, Mayor Matthias Müller had the courage to build the community hall, which was very spacious for the time.

In the meantime he too has become too small and too old for top-class events.

The previous and the current municipal council have once again shown courage with the construction of the community center.

Grasl is certain that the bright, customer- and employee-friendly town hall with a beautiful new meeting room and the ultra-modern event hall designed for up to 400 visitors will be a "real address" from the end of 2023.
